Winter Maintenance

Each winter, when the weather and water conditions force us to take a break from our usual full-on rowing schedule, a gallant group of volunteers carries out maintenance on our four boats. This usually involves repainting the boats and carrying out minor repairs. This year, however, we discovered that several of the ribs on Rapparee were broken and they had to be mended by an experienced boat builder. We also had six oars which needed specialist TLC and a broken rib on Rogue. Having begun work in November, it took us until the beginning of March to get all four boats mended, painted and ready for the new season. Many thanks are due to Chris, our Bosun, Dave, Bob and all the other volunteers!
