Ilfracombe Pilot Gig Rowing Club attended the Three Rivers Race, held by Caradon Gig Rowing club at Saltash, Cornwall, on Sunday 9th March. The club took both their racing boats ‘Rapparee’ & ‘Rogue’ with a Men’s and Woman’s A and B team. It was a stunning day the sun was shining with minimal wind perfect rowing conditions. Representing North Devon as the only team from North Devon racing there were 53 boats in attendance. The race is a long race consisting of 7 miles and 6 turns and the three rivers of the Tamar, Lynher and Tavy! The ladies A team finished in 56.07 minutes, a very creditable 14th place, with the B team finishing in the 28th spot with 59.44 ahead of many A crews a stirling performance best performance to date. The Ilfracombe Men’s A team finished the race in 48.35 minutes and came 9th, 35th place with the B team coming in 35th place with a time of 53.13 again performances better than ever before..
