Three Rivers Race, Sunday 9th March 2014
On behalf of Caradon Pilot Gig Club, I would like to invite you to this year’s Three Rivers Race which will be held on Sunday 9th March 2014 at Saltash.
The Coxes meeting will take place at 9.30 a.m. at the Sailing Club, with the Ladies race starting at 10.00 a.m. As in other years, the Mens Race will take place after the Ladies, at approximately 11.30 a.m.
There were some issues last year with the lack of toilet facilities and as such we will be hiring in ‘portaloos’ this year to try and ease toilet congestion!
Due to the increasing popularity of the event and the rising cost of hosting it, we will this year be charging an entry fee of £5 per crew. This is to be paid on the day at registration by either cash or cheque (cheques to be made payable to ‘Caradon Pilot Gig Club’). Any crews not paying their entry fee will not be able to race. The start line will follow the same format as last year with 2 or 3 line ups (heats) in each race depending on the number of entries. Each crew will be issued a heat number and berth at registration. We would ask that all crews competing line up in their correct berth and co-operate with the starters’ instructions to enable us to have as fair a start line as possible.
If you are planning to attend the race, please can you send an email by Friday 28th February 2014.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Caradon Gig Club
P.S Please read the attached document which outlines instructions for the day. Thank you.
All races will be run under CPGA rules and all gigs must carry a working VHF radio. The races will be started over the radio.
Please can Clubs within an hours driving distance arrive with their gigs as soon as possible. Gigs from further afield must arrive by 8.45a.m. latest. All gigs can be unloaded from both the Brunel slipway and the slipway opposite the Boatman Pub.
All Clubs must register and pay their entry fee on arrival and before the Coxes Meeting. A registration desk will be set up in the Sailing Club.
Please remember that all timings are attached to the gig not the club.
All crews must warm up the lower side of the bridge i.e. Sailing Club side, until called, by radio, to the start line.
Due to the number of gigs attending on the day, can we please ask that you label all of your trailers with the name of the gig and your club name, so that it is clearly visible, in order to make retrieval of your trailer after racing as easy as possible.
There are still yachts stored in the Sailing Club car park for winter maintenance, please could we ask all rowers to take care not to hit the hulls of the yachts with their oars as they walk past. Thank you.
The presentation will take place in the Sailing Club following the racing, where food and drink will be available.
